Food Programme launched at SGV
After many delays, the new kitchen at SGV is finally completed and meals have been served since the middle of January. The 500 children at this school come from very poor families and will benefit greatly from a daily meal. Three volunteer mothers come every day to cook a simple meal that is served to the whole school in their classrooms at morning break.
The children have rice or gram (chick peas) every day with a selection of one or two curries such as egg, pumpkin, dhal, salmon, sprats, plantain, banana flower, soya, leeks, onions, carrots or manioc (cassava).
The new cooks are doing a great job and the children are really enjoying the meals.
